Opening song
Scripture reading: gen
1:14-19
closing song : Jesus
the light of the world
Day 4- sun moon star
Gen 1: 14-19
14And God said, Let there be
lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let
them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15And let them be for lights in
the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16And God made two great
lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the
night: he made the stars also.
17And God set them in the
firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18And to rule
over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and
God saw that it was good.
19And the evening and the
morning were the fourth day.
Midweek
We have come this far, so far without hiccups. Through the
grace of Jesus may we continue this way.
I have not repeated this for the past 2 studies, so just as a way of
keeping our study on course. I will repeat the reason for the series of studies.
(job 38:6)-Explained
For
seasoned Adventist it is not uncommon to hear that “the plan of salvation was
laid down as a part of the foundation of the Earth”, however not many of us
know how to explain this that we have adopted as dear.
Through
our study today we will understand just a few of the principles that were laid
down on day 4, and by doing this we shall have a little better understanding
and be better able to explain how was it that the plan of salvation was laid down
as a part of the foundation of the Earth.
In
Job 38:6 we find God asking Job this very question and asking him to explain
it.
“38:6
Whereupon are the foundations of the Earth fastened? or who laid the
corner stone of it?”
I
don’t want any of you here today to say that Bro Greenland is deep. It is not
me but the Holy Spirit and Him Alone that must be praised for revealing what I
am about to show you today.
Now
the answer to the question “to what was the foundation of the Earth fastened?” the answer quite simply is “The plan of
salvation was the anchor to which the Earth was fastened.”
But
now let us go on to discover how it was that the Earth was fastened to it?
Many applications
but only one interpretation
It
is important for me to make this one point. There is only one interpretation
for scripture, but there are many applications. So what I am going to share
with you today does not change the fact that God created the world in 6 literal
days each made up of 24 hrs. However what I will show today should deepen your
understanding of the wisdom and comprehensiveness of the knowledge of God.
What physically
happened
Before
we can meaningfully make applications, we must first fully understand the
interpretation of what is being presented before us on day 4.
On
day 4 Gods decorates the fist compartment of the firmament with the Sun, the
Moon, the Stars and other planets.
He
makes it so the Sun rules over the day and the Moon and other lesser lights
rule over the night.
He
also uses these light as the indicators of change of seasons, and for calculation of days, and years. He
also said that these light would give sign of the times.
Questions concersns to be addressed
Application1
The light of the world comes
Sun moon and stars—three lights
The light of the world comes-
jesus and the prophets are made manifest------especially jesus for he is the
llight of the world, what is the light of the world.
2nd application-the
sun represents Christ the moon his bride
and the stars are his children
26:4 And I
will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy
seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be
blessed;

Since
the people were directly connected to the Lord. The prophets’ woe=rd to them
from the lord could suffice…the people have lost their way now and their
connection so God needs to speak to us by his son.

Confrontation
PG 31 & 78
The Temptation
In the
desolate wilderness, Christ was not in so favorable a position to endure the
temptations of Satan as was Adam when he was tempted in Eden. The Son of God humbled
Himself and took man's nature after the race had wandered four thousand years
from Eden, and from their original state of purity and uprightness. Sin had
been making its terrible marks upon the race for ages; and physical, mental,
and moral degeneracy prevailed throughout the human family. {Con 31.3}
When Adam
was assailed by the tempter in Eden, he
32
was without the taint of sin. He stood before God in
the strength of perfect manhood. All the organs and faculties of his being were
equally developed, and harmoniously balanced. {Con 31.4}
Christ,
in the wilderness of temptation, stood in Adam's place to bear the test he
failed to endure. Here Christ overcame in the sinner's behalf, four thousand
years after Adam turned his back upon the light of his home
Therefore
the power of his temptations was in accordance with the greatness of the object
which he would lose or gain. For four thousand years, ever since the
declaration was made to Adam that the seed of the woman should bruise the
serpent's head, he had been planning his manner of attack. {Con 78.2}
DESIRE
OF AGES 48
It would have been an almost infinite humiliation
for the Son of God to take man's nature, even when Adam stood in his innocence
in Eden. But Jesus accepted humanity when the race had been weakened by four
thousand years of sin. Like every child of Adam He accepted the results of the
working of the great law of heredity. What these results were is shown in the
history of His earthly ancestors. He came with such a heredity to share our
sorrows and temptations, and to give us the example of a sinless life. {DA 48.5}
