Gen 5

5:1 it is clear that the comparison is being made between created in the image and likeness of God versus born in the image and likeness of sinful man.
Adam and Eve were no doubt in the image of God, but the succeeding generations were in the image of their sinful fathers.

5:3 Note that in spite of Cain being the first born, he is not reckoned among the “sons of God” because he was reckoned as the son of perdition the first seed of the devil.

5:3 Three women were mentioned in chapter 4 in Cain’s genealogy, and their names had to do with beauty, ornament, shade, loveliness. This sets the stage for the comparison in Gen chapter 6, between the sons of God and the daughters of men.

5:4 Although it could be construed that the sons and daughters mention belong to Seth, because of the context clues, and the subject under discussion we can conclude that the sons and daughters belonged to Adam.

Gen 5:5-23 Please note that this is a specific lineage which is being mentioned. It is not to be said or understood that these were the first born, It is possible that there were other sons and daughter born before the ones mentioned.
How many generations after Adam was Enoch.
7 generations from Adam to Enoch. Adam died but Enoch did not.

5:29 For example, when you concatenate the meanings of the names in the genealogy in Genesis 5, he noted, you will find that a prophecy emerges: “Humanity appointed wretched, falling. The blessed God will descend - dedicated. His death will bring power, rest.” The class was impressed: “that's why we love this man,” said one of the class members.

5:29 It seems that the inhabitants of Earth then knew that something miraculous was to happen. All had hoped for deliverance from the curse. All had wanted an easier life, thus, Noah’s Father (Lamech) made this declaration because he believed that his son would be the one to deliver them from the curse of the Earth.
