14:1-3This is direct and specific instruction for the children of
Israel to encamp by the sea. They were to encamp at a specific place per
instruction from the Lord.
From the previous chapter we are told that it was the Lord who led them
to this place.

14:4 Note that they were told that the Egyptians would pursue after
them into the wilderness.
Note the Lord said that Pharaoh was coming, and yet God did not advise
Moses what was to be done when they the armies should come.
This seems like a type of trouble just before God comes. God speaks of
the time of trouble to come, but there is little instruction as to what to do
during that time of trouble. In this
story we see the Lord marvelously delivering His people. No doubt God will
deliver His people in the end in like fashion.

14:10 The fear here by the Israelites seems misplaced. How can they
mistrust God after HHe just warned about the Egyptian armies coming. Should
they not have not known that if God had brought them this far He would bring
them the rest of the way.
Here is a prime example that you cannot trust in the Lord when you have
fear.
The Lord had said to them previously that he would take them from this
place and bring them to another, yet in the midst of their trouble

14:10 If your plans do not fail you will have no reason to cry out unto
the Lord.
The children of Israel panicked and now ask a stupid question.
If God had wanted to kill them He would not have brought them out unto
the wilderness to kill them.
The cloud was still with them
Did Moses have additional conversation with the Lord, or was this just
discernment from what was told to him earlier?
According to verse 14:18 we see the additional discourse. Moses
seemingly did not have any prior knowledge of the intentions of God before it
was mentioned.
14:13
14:15 Forward? I can just imagine Moses looking forward into the water
and saying am I going to march the children of Israel into the water?
This is just the character of God on display.
14;16 Yes!!! Forward…I’m not stupid, and I did not stutter.
God clarifies his instruction.
14:19-20 God himself was their defense. He encamped around the host of
the children of Israelites.ps34:7
This was definitely a dramatic event. Why would God have parted the
waters in this way.
Maybe it was done so that the people would remember how God mightily
divided the waters.14:31
21 It must have been a fearful thing to watch the strong wind divide
the waters.
Why would the men pursue the children of Israel into the red sea.
Here is a prime example of the folly of sin. Because sin is ruling in
their lives their actions do not make any sense.
22 Fear is not enough to drive you to obedience. Inspite of the many
dreadful sacs that were done before the Egyptians did not fear the Lord
enough to obey Him.
It was not until the Egyptians were in the midst of the water that
their chariot wheels fells off, and they realized that the Lord was fighting
for the Israelites.
The falling off of the chariot wheels is something supernatural and is
not to be overlooked.
Where was Moses that he could have heard the Egyptians say, “let us
flee?”
God could have made the waters come back upon the Egyptians at His
bidding, yet He instructs Moses to play a part in the water coming back
together. Why was this?
I believe it is a manifestation of the desire
of God to work through human agencies. Yes, He can do the work, all by
himself, but this is not what He desires.
27 The nature of sin, is that it destroys whatever is in its path.
28: Note that the scripture says all that went in perished. So, it seems
safe to say that those who did not go in, lived to tell the tale.

This was my most ambitious project. I had hoped to provide a verse by verse commentary of the entire bible. However, my computer was stolen and I did not get to upload all the commentary I had documented up to Joshua. I was devasted by the theft and did not continue the commentary.
