exodus 15

Question
Answer
Note---10-02-2016

You would think that this song was pre-pared, since Moses and the entire congregation just started singing it. (The song continues for 21 verses. It is the story of their triumph.)

This should be recognized as the song of Moses and the children of Israel. In revelation mention is made of the song of Moses and the Lamb.

Recognizing that the people would respond in this chorus of praise, God had to do the things that He did in the order that He did it in front of the children of Israel. This was God introducing himself to the children of Israel. He wanted them to know that He was a man of war.

Why didn’t the children of Israel ask for water from the first day. Why is it recorded that they had to go 3 days journey into the wilderness before they would ask for water? Is there a lesson there?

15:22

Were these people led by the cloud into the wilderness?
We know from the story of Jesus that the people were led intot he wilderness by God, however it remains a mystery if they sought the water on their own, or they searched for water while being led by the cloud.

15:24 Note this is not an ordinary complain for the murmured out “against him”

What is this ordinance that the Lord has established and what bearing does the promise have on us today?

Note the diseases here are specific. This is not a generalization. The plagues in Egypt reflect upon the last plagues to be poured out upon the world. The Lord is here saying that these plagues will be revisited upon the Earth, and only if you are obedient to my word will they not come upon thee.
15:25-26 God makes a promise to the people.

15:27 There is definitely some significance here, the fact that there are 12 wells, pre-dug (seemingly one for each tribe) and 70 palm trees. Both numbers are significant with God.

15:27 This is probably an oasis in the desert? This was a welcome change no doubt, this place probably had lots of life in it, no wonder the children of Israel encamped here.
