There is great detail in the description of the things in the sanctuary. He tells the borders, the material that is to be used, how it is to be carved and cover.

It seems nothing is left to human invention.

26:7 The goats hair was basicall y to make a roof for the tabernacle.
Why is gold not used here?

26:11 a different metal is mentioned

Since we don’t have specific knowledge of tent making, it is difficult to understand all the instructions given in building the sanctuary.

There is no ambiguity about where or what direction each items is to be placed. (ex 26:33-37)

It seems here that the Lord is initiating a love relationship with the children of Israel. Note he does not force the Israelites top bring an offering. It simply is a suggestion (verse 2)

Was this really an invitation or was this coercion?

Which Israelite would tell the Lord no, after such a welcoming invitation?
Because of the hardness of the heart of man, it is possible that there were some who did not bring offerings unto the Lord.

What is the difference between sanctuary and tabernacle?
Sanctuary=hallowed holy place,

Tabernacle= dwelling place
Sanctuary= dwelling place of God
The holy sanctuary services take place in the sanctuary, they cannot be performed in the tabernacle.

25:4 The colors of God are blue, purple and scarlet. These are the colors God wants represented in His sanctuary.

ex 25:10-21

25:10 So the ark was a cubit longer in length than breadth and height.

25:11 It was made with the shittim wood and then overlayed with gold.

What testimony was to be put in the ark?

16

Is God referring to the commandments as the testimony, or was there a separate document called the testimony?

Why was the ark called the ark of the coveneant ?

or the ark of the testimony?
It is obvious ark of the testimony, because the testimony was in it.

How was the candlestick carried if it did not have rings?
Numbers 4:9-10
And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his snuffdishes, and all the oil vessels thereof, wherewith they minister unto it:

And they shall put it and all the vessels thereof within a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put it upon a bar.
The bars are wood ex26:26

Why was gold used?
Gold is the least likely metal to rust. Hence by overshadowing everything with Gold it would last a long time.

Seventy four people were to separate themselves from the congregation. When compared to the multitude, this was not a large number, however compare it to the average size of a church gathering, this was a large number of individuals.

24:3 this is the people agreeing to the contract/covenant. They said they would do their part.

24:7 repeat vs 3

24:10 The children of Israel saw the Lord. It seems that they only saw his feet, as this was the only part mentioned in the scripture.
How is it that these saw God and lived, and it is recorded that no man see God and live?
New Living Translation
And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in his presence!
24:11
Is Joshua an elder in Israel?
It seems fair to assume that Joshua was also one of the elders who was invited into the conference of God.

However there is no clue in the text to suggest that Joshua was an elder. Instead it might have been that Joshua was the personal servant of Moses. As was the custom of prophets at the time.
24:13 Joshua is here mentioned as the minister of Moses.

Hur was the chief assistant to Moses and Aaron. He was the one along with Aaron that held up Moses’ hand during battle.
24:14 Aaron and Hur are left in charge while Joshua and Moses went up into the mount.
What was Moses doing up in the Mountain during the 6 days that he was in the cloud, and the Lord spoke not unto him?
It is not mentioned what he did, however one can speculate that he was praying and fasting.

This is another significant appearance of the Lord. Note this appearance was what got Moses’ attention in the first place.
Where was Joshua when Moses gat up and went into the cloud?
It is not clear where he was, however it should be noted that Joshua was also without food for the forty days and nights that Moses was communing with God.

These seem to be a set of proverbs versus laws, in previous chapters.

These verse seem a little more personal than the laws before.

New International Version
"Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

23:2

New International Version
and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.
23:3 This poor fellow may be defined as handicapped, or of meagre means.

23:4-5 do good unto them that hate you.

23:8 This was specific to the judges. They could not afford for their judgment to be perverted, as a result, the admonition was for them to never receive a gift so that their judgement would always be fair. (blind the wise and pervert the words of the righteous)

The gift here is to be associated as bribery, and is to be seen generally in a negative light. However there are some occasions that it was interpreted as something good.
We understand that the land should rest, however how were the owners of the land to eat in the 7th year? Is it supposed that they gathered enough into their barns to last them through the 7th year?

23:11
What is the significance of this, or the application for this time?

23:13 Don’t even mention the name of other gods upon thy lips. It is understandable that they should not be worshipped, but this command goes a little further to mention that their names should not be mentioned.
With the increase of knowledge of the dark side, and the coming forth of the illuminati and the like, are we to pretend that they don’t exist?

More judgments from the pen of Moses.

22:2 If you kill a thief in the act of stealing that he die, you will not be guilty of Murder.

22:3 if you wait to kill him, then there is a crime committed. It has to be in the act, otherwise life for life.
What happens if a thief has nothing to restore?
Then he shall be sold for his thievery.

But suppose the thief is not his own?
Then the master is responsible for paying back the debt.

Isn’t an oath of the Lord swearing? If so, why does the new testament contradict this? Jesus said let your yes be yes and your no be no.

22:11

22:18 It seems witchcraft was forbidden. TO the point that it was law that anyone practicing this should surely be put to death. Wow!!

Note this was shortly after the children of Israel came out of Egypt that this law was established.

In spite of this strict punishment, there were still some who practiced witchcraft.

22:19 No tolerance for bestiality.

22:22-24

The fatherless and the widow is precious in the sight of the Lord.

22:25 If you lend brethren money, you should not lend with interest.

22:28 Respect the rulers of the Land and God. This verse is a translation error.

The gods= should just be God, or could also be interpreted “most high ruler”
