8:1 Noah is mentioned and not his family
8:1 In the same way that the Spirit of God moved over the
face of the waters in the beginning, the wind blew over the earth which was
then covered by water, signifying a re-creation.
8:2 Asswaged mean to make less intense. The chapter begins
at the very point when the rain ceases (at the end of the 40 days/nights) and not after the 150 days which the water
was on the Earth.
8:3 That the water came off the Earth is no doubt a
miracle. Natural evaporation could not account for that amount of water being
removed from the Earth. Remember the tallest mountain was covered by at least
15 cubits.
8:4-6 It seems that the 150th day was the 17th
day of the 7th month in which the Ark rested on the mount of Ararat. However
Noah and his family did not see the mountains until 73 days later (13+30+30).
Then after that waited 40 days to send out birds.
Then waited 7 more days to send dove again
Then 7 more days
Then 7 more days
then the dove did not return.

8:13 Noah spent 1 year in the Ark see 7:11 and 8:14 (10
months and 13 days
8:13 It seems that there was no calendar, but instead time
was reckoned by each man. In these verses we see time being reckoned by the
age of Noah. See 7:11
8:16 God had locked the door, so only now he could open it
and tell them to go forth.
8:19 after their kinds suggests that the animals had small
ones. During the time in the Ark they had become pregnant and given birth.
8:21 Fulfilment of the purpose of the Noah. Lamech had
named Noah and said that the curse would be lifted and in this verse God
declares the curse lifted.
8:21 The curse that was lifted seems to have been
concerned with eating from the Earth in sorrow. Based on the comment of
Lamech, it seems the work was very hard to eat, and in this verse God makes
the promise that it will no longer be so.
8:22 God is saying that he will not stop the seasons while
the Earth remains.

This was my most ambitious project. I had hoped to provide a verse by verse commentary of the entire bible. However, my computer was stolen and I did not get to upload all the commentary I had documented up to Joshua. I was devasted by the theft and did not continue the commentary.
