Gen 9

Question
Answer
Note---10-02-2016

9:1 Noah is told to fill the Earth.

9:2Noah is given dominion over the Earth.

9:3 This verse seems to contradict other scripture about unclean and clean animals being eaten, however based on the instruction in other parts of the bible, it must be concluded that Noah was given instruction to eat all clean animals.
The word of God does not contradict itself.

9:4 Flesh that has blood in it forbidden to be eaten.

9:5 here we are made to understand that blood is the wine of violence. If a man eats blood, his blood will be shed by animals or by man.
Killing of Noah/man forbidden. Animal was not to kill man and animal was not to kill man.
God warns Noah that the animals are no longer vegetarian, and will attack and kill man.

9:6 amplification of 5.

9:7-13 God makes a covenant with Noah and the animals. And puts His bow in the sky that he will not destroy the Earth with water again.

9:14-17 the covenant of the rainbow established.

9:18 Ham the father of Canaan

9:20 Because the curse was lifted man could now plant and reap from trees instead of from the ground.

9:21 If the curse had not been lifted Noah would not have been drunken, because he would not have been eating from a vine. Sometimes the curses that God places upon us, is for our good.

9:22-27 There is a type here. Not sure of what it is.

It seems that Noah had intended for his curse to be immediate and not applicable to succeeding generations.
He calls Canaan by name and Japheth and shem by name. These are not in the same generation. It seems that when Noah spoke, Canaan had already been born and there must have been a relationship between Ham and Canaan why Noah would want Canaan to be the servant of Japheth and Shem.

9:29 Note that there is silence about the generations of Noah. Usually after the sum of age is mentioned it would be told that the person had sons and daughters, however only the name of Noah and his years is mentioned in this verse.

It seems mysterious that nothing should be said about Noah’s lineage. Especially if he had daughters.
It was the custom to marry your sister. It is not noted that the sons of Noah “took “them wives.
This silence seems to suggest that their wives were indeed their sisters.
