gen 39

39:1 Note that there is no mention of how much Joseph’s price was. No doubt he would have been sold for a profit, yet no price is mentioned.

It seems that in keeping with the types that are being presented it may have been inconsistent to mention the price.

And the Lord was with Joseph and he prospered in the house of his master the Egyptian.(rephrase)
39:2
How did Potipher see that the Lord was with Joseph?
Because everything that Joseph did prospered, it was obvious that God was with him.

How are we to understand, that all that Potipher had, he put into Joseph’s hand?
Joseph was governor of all his possessions.

39:5 It is interesting how God blesses even the heathen because of the presence of the righteous.

So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn't worry about a thing--except what kind of food to eat! Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man, (NLT)
39:6
Did Mrs. Potipher have a mental issue?
It seems that she might have been the agent of the devil trying to let Joseph fall. Having been sold unto the devil her state could have been described as a mental illness.
39:10 note that Joseph’s refusal was not a single event. Ms Potifer continued to approach Joseph day by day in spite of Joseph’s continued refusal of her, and inspite of sound reasoning.
Did Mr. Potipher have other wives that she should have felt unfulfilled?
There is no evidence to suggest that Poitpher had other wives.

39:11 Mrs potipher had come to know the routine of Joseph and as a result she made preparation to have her way with him by excusing all other servants from the house.
Why was Mrs. Potipher so persistent and aggressive? Why did she have to have Jospeh?
It is obvious this is not a battle being fought in the physical realm. This seems oddly familiar to the story of Job, where the servant of God is tried to the honor and glory of God.
39:12 She sought now to force him to sleep with her.

39:14 Mrs Potipher at the end of her frustration decides to rid the house of Joseph. She lies that Joseph tries to force/rape her.
Why didn’t the other servants try to restrain Joseph?
It is obvious that her consistent approaches towards Joseph were heard by the other servants. Consequently they did not yield to her demand to have Joseph restrained.
The scripture says she waited until Potipher came home. This suggests that nothing was done.

39:16 To ensure that something was done, she complained again to Potipher
If Potipher was truly angry at this servant, would he not have put him to death?

39:17
Was Joseph’s life spared because God was with him, or was his life spared as a reflection upon the personality of Potipher?

Was Joseph an elite prisoner? Why would he be put in the prison with King’s prisoners?
It seems that way.
39:20
What kind of governor was Potiphar that he had access to put Joseph (a common slave) with the slaves/prisoners of Pharaoh?

39:21 It seems ironic that he scripture would mention that the Lord was with Joseph, yet he was thrown into prison.

This is a prime example of the Lord leading through the valley of the shadow of death.

Also God stayed with Joseph a midst his misfortune. This even seems to suggest that God does not prevent bad things from happening to His people all the time. Sometimes it is actually for the good of others that bad things will happen to His people
What did prisoners do?

What could have been done on prison that would be worthwhile, so that the scripture would record that God prospered it?
