gen 40

40:1 Note that this verse is the title for the chapter.
How did the butler and the baker know that their dreams were worth interpreting?

40:8 Note that the butler and baker know that dreams have meaning.
Does the fact that they are sad, mean that had they been free, they would have sought alternative interpretations for their dreams?

40:8 Note that Joseph makes a proud declaration that the secret things belong unto God.

40:15 It seems joseph is weary of his situation, and is not asking man for help.

No doubt Joseph would have been praying for his release all these years. However; it seem that God has not been answering his prayer. As a result Joseph looks to the arms of flesh to help him.

It seems there must have been some altercation in which the butler and baker were involved. It could not have been determined who was at fault, until the investigation was complete. (3 days later) The butler was cleared and the baker indicted.
Was Joseph’s faith beginning to dwindle here?
It would not be a fair assessment to say that Joseph was losing his faith however; a person’s situation is sometimes overbearing and it causes them to do and say things that they would not normally say.

As you go through the fire you will get burned, however this should not alter your relationship with God. This is where true faith is, when you are able to go into your valley/crucible and come out more committed to God.

Pharaoh's birthday came three days later, and he prepared a banquet for all his officials and staff. He summoned his chief cup-bearer and chief baker to join the other officials.
